It was so much fun to work with all of the fabulous quilters who tested the Crystal Rose pattern, and their creativity, insight, enthusiasm, and expertise are all reflected in the Crystal Rose pattern. They helped make this a pattern that you will love making!

Below I’ll introduce each of them and share several photos of their quilts along with some of their thoughts and suggestions on making the pattern. Be sure to visit them on Instagram to see all the amazing things they are working on. I think you’ll be as blown away as I was. Enjoy!!

Aren’t these colors fabulous together?! Amelia said she loves how the pattern looks complicated but isn’t. She suggested that the center of each block is a great place to do some fussy cutting on some of your favorite larger prints.

The soft colors Andrea chose for her throw sized quilt made using yardage are so sweet…literally! Check out her center square fabrics that include some fun cakes, ice creams, and popsicles. Andrea said her favorite thing about making the quilt was how easy it was to cut the pieces. She also liked using her 2.5” wide ruler to trim the half rectangle triangles.

Arielle

@premosewing

Arielle’s two-color quilt is simply stunning. She said the pattern reminds her of crystal gems (same here!) and she loved that it came together fairly quickly. She even said that since it didn’t take her long to make, she is thinking of making a second one with new fabric! (We can’t wait to see it Arielle!)

Look at how beautifully Ashley pulled together this fabulous line of fabrics in her baby-size Crystal Rose quilt. She said she had so much fun making the blocks that she actually continued making more to turn this beauty into a throw-size quilt!

Isn’t this one gorgeous?! Conni said she liked how the pattern held so many different ways to get creative with fabric selection. We love her choices here!

These candy-colored Bonnie & Camille fabrics came together beautifully in Deanne’s quilt! Deanne said she loved how everything was written out, and the diagrams in the pattern really helped her put everything together. She said it looks complicated, but goes together easily.

Heather

@hfeeney19

Heather used a beautiful fat quarter bundle to create this gorgeous scrappy throw-sized quilt. Isn’t it fun how she pulls the whole fabric line together through her fabric placement?!

The amazing dark background on Lindsey’s quilt really makes her colors pop! About the pattern, Lindsey noted that it combines basic piecing techniques for an effect that really shines. It’s feminine and floral, but versatile depending on your fabric choices. She also suggested using a rotating cutting mat for trimming the half rectangle triangles.

Marcie’s scrappy throw-sized quilt is a sight to behold! She said that Crystal Rose is a beautiful quilt pattern that goes together easily. It allows for as little or as much variety as you would like and is perfect for using up a lot of scraps. Like Lindsey, she used a rotating cutting mat for trimming, along with Cluck Cluck Sew’s Diagonal Seam Tape for the corner rectangles, and the painter’s tape ruler trick for her half rectangle triangles (detailed in the blog post)!

Don’t you love Sara’s cheerful background choice?! It is just in time for summer! About the pattern, she said she liked the 2 color ways of the blocks and how the blocks form a secondary star when they are put together. She used a steam iron to press all the seams nice and flat.

And now, to end on a high note: Sarah’s beautiful throw-sized quilt! Sarah said that she lived in Newport, RI for a short amount of time and the colors she decided to use remind her of the ocean and the decor of the mansions on Bellevue Avenue. So much fun!

And now it’s your turn! I hope you’ve enjoyed all these beautiful quilts today and are left feeling inspired by all the creative artistry of these quilters. Go ahead and grab your own copy of the Crystal Rose quilt pattern in the Wild Plum Lane shop. I can’t wait to see the quilt YOU create!
